CIE NC Italy
AIDI (Italian Association of Lighting), since its foundation in 1959, has carried out a constant action of scientific, technical and cultural information for the diffusion of knowledge of all aspects related to lighting. Its main “mission” is disseminating and promoting the “culture of light” by also supporting studies, research, innovation and new technologies. AIDI Association has always been a witness, since its establishment, of the lighting history of Italy, its members belong to the entire lighting sector: companies, architects, engineers, lighting designers, utilities, accademics, researchers and light experts who, with their commitment and intelligence, contribute to the development and growth of the Italian culture of light.
ASSIL (Italian Association of Lighting Manufacturers) is member of ANIE Confindustria and represent more than 80 companies manufacturing luminaires, electrical components for lighting, light sources and LED. These companies are the expression of technological excellence of the lighting Industry operating on the Italian market. Its mission is to represent, defend and advocate member companies to support the development of high-quality industry, built on innovation and internationalization. Through training and technical dissemination, assistance and advice on standardization and legislation that regulate the sector, ASSIL creates and promotes a culturally advanced ecosystem of highly knowledgeable companies and professionals, in order to support a qualitative and performance improvement of products placed on the market. ASSIL companies, with a total turnover of 2,1 billion euros, represent over 68% of the total Italian lighting turnover and over 6,300 employees.
In 2020 AIDI and ASSIL, constituted the CIE NC Italy, managed by a Directive composed by a President, a secretarial support, and a Technical and Normative manager, on top of National Division representatives and National Division Coordinators. CIE NC Italy actively contributes to TCs activities and, since 2022, has been organizing LightBreaks, short free online sessions during which CIE experts explore some of the topics addressed internationally by the CIE.
INRiM – National Metrology Institute of Italy
INRiM is a public research centre acting as Italy’s national metrology institute (NMI). INRiM carries out and promotes research in metrology and develops the most advanced measurement standards and methods and related technologies, fulfilling the functions of a primary metrological institute according to Law No. 273 of 11 August 1991.
To this end, as a signatory to international agreements on metrology, upon delegation of the competent institutions, and similarly to the metrological institutes of other countries, INRiM creates and maintains the national standards for units of measurement.INRiM also enhances, disseminates and transfers knowledge and results in measurement science and materials research to promote national technological development and improve citizens’ quality of life and services.
